Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, hosted a briefing call today with His Excellency Philip Frayne, U.S. General Consul in the UAE, via a virtual conference today.
This comes as part of a briefing series being hosted by DMCC with ambassadors and country representatives across key markets to further strengthen bilateral relations, discuss ways to support ongoing trade ties and understand what businesses need in target markets. The call also comes as part of the U.S. Consul Generals outreach program to Dubai business leaders on their response to the economic impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the call, both Bin Sulayem and H.E. Frayne commended the UAE’s exemplary leadership in tackling the global COVID-19 pandemic. They also brought to light the unprecedented levels of global collaboration, cooperation and support across economic, fiscal, social and humanitarian sectors to navigate the challenges posed by COVID-19.
On the agenda was also a discussion about the exceptional support being provided to businesses across both the UAE and the U.S. through initiatives that aim to strengthen financial resilience and boost economic recovery. Bin Sulayem took the opportunity to brief H.E. Frayne on DMCC’s strategy to support the business community, including an update on the Business Support Package, which was recently extended and expanded.
The pair emphasised the long-lasting strategic bilateral relations between the two countries, considering ways to further strengthen existing ties, while also working together to attract more U.S. businesses over the coming period. Bin Sulayem reiterated the wide range of opportunities available to businesses in Dubai, highlighting that DMCC is currently home to over 400 American companies. He also underscored the solid performance of the American Business Council Dubai (AmCham), based in Almas Tower since 2018. In early 2019, DMCC hosted H.E. Frayne and took him on a tour of the business district’s world-class facilities.
