Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC welcomed Costa Rican Ambassador to the UAE, HE Francisco Chacon Hernandez to Almas Tower – for a tour of the world’s leading Free Zone and to hold strategic talks on how to best promote DMCC as a destination for ambitious Costa Rican companies.
The pair discussed growing trade ties between the UAE and Costa Rica, and how DMCC is perfectly positioned to support Costa Rican companies expand – particularly those connected to coffee and other commodities. Bin Sulayem highlighted how DMCC’s recently launched state-of- the-art coffee centre can support Costa Rica’s ambition to increase its coffee exports to the UAE.
Trade between the UAE and Costa Rica reached USD 26.3 million in 2018 and has witnessed a YoY increase since official ties were established in 2010.
The meeting in DMCC follows the visit of HE Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State, and a senior delegation to Costa Rica in June where two MoU and bilateral agreements between the UAE and Costa Rican government were signed. The agreements are designed to enhance trade ties and encourage investment between the two countries.
DMCC has embarked on a compressive engagement programme to forge ties with business communities around the world. The meeting today, and many more scheduled with senior officials in the coming months, serves to show how DMCC is committed to driving trade through Dubai and facilitating bilateral business relations.
