Collection Themed: ‘Global Perspectives – Emerging Art from Emerging Artists’

DMCC, the largest and fastest growing Free Zone in the UAE that first brought Christie’s Auctions house to the Emirate and its Free Zone in 2005, is now in the process of installing more than 300 pieces of artwork in its corporate headquarters, Almas Tower.

The initiative was conceptualised to further support His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai’s vision of making the Emirate an ‘open canvas’, a celebration of the diverse cultures found in both the expatriate and tourist communities in Dubai.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman, DMCC, said:

“Further to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai’s commitment to celebrate innovation, art and beauty here in Dubai, we created an interesting and stimulating environment for our members, clients and employees.

“Artwork tells a story, not just about the artist, but also about its surroundings. Almas Tower itself was purpose-built to create an efficient and conducive environment for trade with a number of unique and cutting edge features. It is only fitting that the masterpiece of the DMCC Free Zone should house unique and cutting edge works of art”.

Almas Tower, which is also the tallest commercial tower in the Middle East, showcases contemporary paintings from Dubai-based artists originating from the UAE, India, Pakistan and Mauritius. The theme for the project is “Global Perspectives – Emerging Art from Emerging Artists” featuring original and diverse finishes.

Legacy Marketing & Artistic Events DMCC, alongside business partners Anyahh Arts brought in experts from India to conceptualise and design the DMCC Arts at Almas Tower project in conjunction with local artist consultant and curator Maria Peat from the Dubai Community Theatre & Arts Centre (DUCTAC).

Legacy Marketing & Artistic Events DMCC will place at least 300 artworks in Almas Tower covering artists from over 11 countries by the end of August of this year. The paintings include oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas as well as photography and calligraphy.
