Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, hosted a briefing call today with Jassim Saif Al Shamsi, Chargé D’Affaires of the United Arab Emirates in The Republic of Peru, via a virtual conference. The call comes as part of a wider briefing series hosted by DMCC with UAE Ambassadors across the world to strengthen strategic bilateral relations and trade ties.

The pair praised the UAE government for its exemplary response and swift action to contain the spread of COVID-19 and the record screening and testing conducted across the country. As a result, restrictions have been eased and activities across all sectors have been able to resume with tourists expected in the country in the weeks to come.

Additionally, they expressed their pride in the leadership for the humanitarian assistance provided to countries across the globe. The discussion also shed light on the unprecedented initiatives launched to strengthen financial resilience and boost economic recovery throughout this period.

Bin Sulayem and Al Shamsi underscored the UAE-Peru strategic bilateral trade relations, with Peru being the UAE’s third largest trading partner in Latin America. They also noted that Peru is a pioneer in the superfoods industry, and one of the largest exporters of certified organic coffee, with the country generally regarded as a producer of exceptional beans. The UAE has investments in Peru’s shipping, logistics and energy sector and imports a vast array of commodities from the country, including gold.

The pair concluded the call on a positive note, considering ways to further strengthen existing ties over the coming period.
