DMCC Executive Chairman and CEO welcomes Ambassador of Republic of Guatemala to the UAE in Almas Tower

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, met with HE Lars Henrik Pira Perez, Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala to the United Arab Emirates earlier this week.

The leaders commended the UAE government for their action and excellent response to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. They also discussed the importance of the Latin America-UAE relationship across economic cooperation and how to increase the bilateral trade between Guatemala and the UAE. In 2019, direct trade with Guatemala totalled to USD 122.2 million and Free Zone trade accounted for USD 8.5 million.

During the meeting, HE Pira Perez commended Mr Sulayem for DMCC’s efforts to cater to the Latin American businesses – especially boosting the coffee trade and wished him luck and support for DMCC’s upcoming webinar on Latin American Coffee trade with the Middle East.

The group concluded the visit with the tour of DMCC’s facilities and world-class services offered to its 17,500 registered companies and learned how the free zones drive trade through Dubai.
