Sustainability has become a defining factor in long-term competitiveness, access to capital and operational resilience. Across global markets, companies are increasingly expected to demonstrate how environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles are embedded not only in strategy, but in day-to-day operations. In this context, business districts that provide structured, practical support for ESG integration offer a clear advantage to internationally active firms.
As a leading international business district home to more than 26,000 companies, DMCC operates at the intersection of global trade, capital and innovation. Reflecting this positioning, DMCC recently hosted the Sustainability Pioneers Awards 2026, held in February, recognising companies across its ecosystem that are embedding ESG principles into their operating models and delivering measurable impact.
Introduced as part of DMCC’s broader sustainability agenda – including the launch of the Sustainability Hub in 2024 – the awards spotlight organisations translating ambition into tangible outcomes, while underscoring the growing maturity of ESG integration across the DMCC community.
The ceremony was presented by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC, alongside Feryal Ahmadi, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer, and Evgeny Garanin, Associate Director for Corporate Sustainability, highlighting organisations advancing sustainability through practical and measurable action.
Leadership Across Enterprise and SME Communities
The ESG Leadership – Global Enterprise category recognised organisations that have embedded sustainability across complex operations and international value chains, including:
- Hikvision
- Pxgeo
- Sanofi-Aventis Group
- Yellow Door Energy
- Aquachemie

Spanning sectors from technology and energy services to pharmaceuticals and industrial supply, these organisations demonstrate how ESG integration at scale strengthens operational resilience, reinforces stakeholder confidence and supports long-term value creation.
Sustainability leadership across DMCC extends equally to smaller enterprises. The ESG Leadership – Small and Medium Enterprise category recognised:
- Salimus Consultancy
- Motif Interior Decoration
- The Box Self Storage
The awards recognised these companies’ efforts for embedding sustainability best practices, efficiency measures and workforce practices within operating models. Given that SMEs form a significant share of the DMCC community, their progress plays an important role in strengthening sustainability standards across supply chains and services throughout the district.
Beyond operational performance, sustainable growth also depends on inclusive development. In the Social Impact – Special Distinction category, recognition was awarded to:
- Pullman Jumeirah Lakes Towers Hotel
- Haggar
- Evolvin Women
Their initiatives in workforce development, empowerment and community engagement highlight how sustainability extends beyond environmental performance to include social responsibility and inclusive growth – both essential to long-term economic resilience.
The Awards were delivered with the support of C3, Climate Essentials and Earthly, reflecting the collaborative approach underpinning DMCC’s sustainability agenda.
Embedding Sustainability Across DMCC’s Business District
The progress highlighted through the awards forms part of a broader framework designed to strengthen ESG capability across the DMCC ecosystem. Through the Sustainability Hub, members gain access to expertise, tools and collaborative platforms that support carbon management, governance enhancement and operational resilience – aligning private sector performance with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 ambitions.
This commitment is mirrored internally. In 2025, DMCC established a group-wide greenhouse gas management system, introduced an audited Scope 1-3 emissions baseline and advanced a comprehensive decarbonisation roadmap. Investments in solar capacity, district cooling efficiency and enhanced waste management across Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Uptown Dubai further demonstrate how sustainability considerations are integrated into district-level infrastructure and operations.
For existing members, the Sustainability Pioneers Awards reflect the collective progress of a community increasingly defined by responsible business practices. For prospective international companies evaluating Dubai as a base for regional or global expansion, they signal that sustainability within DMCC is structured, credible and actively supported.
As global trade becomes more closely linked to environmental and social performance, ecosystems capable of enabling measurable ESG integration will continue to attract forward-looking businesses. Through initiatives such as the Sustainability Pioneers Awards and the continued development of the Sustainability Hub, DMCC is reinforcing its position as a platform where responsible growth and commercial success advance together – strengthening Dubai’s role as a global centre for sustainable trade and innovation.
